IMPORTANT UPDATES REGARDING THE UKRAINE RELIEF EVENT
Please read the message below from Scott R. Schulick
Good Evening, All:

Late last week, we were informed that the venue where we were to have the Ukraine Relief Event at St. Nikolas Hall in North Canton suffered extensive damage from a fire and will not be able to host our event on Saturday evening, November 5.

After several attempts to find another venue, we have been forced to move the event to Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 3-7pm at the St. George Serbian Center, 4667 Applegrove St. NW, North Canton, OH  44720.  We are sorry for any inconvenience.  The good news is that most of our entertainment, our caterer, and our special guest, Barry Rassin are still able to attend!

DG Michelle and I want to extend our thanks to you for your efforts thus far.  To date, we have over $41,000 received or pledged to our event as we work toward our goal of $100,000.  Keep up the good work in your clubs and your communities!

We have been in contact with PDG Mykola Stebljanko in Odessa, Ukraine, and we are very pleased to learn how our efforts and proceeds will benefit aid on the ground and administered by local Rotarians.

Attached you will find updated materials for distribution to your members and to post on your social media sites.  Please share as often as you can and in as many places as you can.  We have 6 weeks to reach our goal!

CLUB GOALS:
Keep in mind that all clubs are being asked to raise at least $2,500 through donations, sponsorships, fundraisers, etc.  We have one club that has raised $10,000 to date!  The club challenge to raise at least $2,500 is not a sponsorship, but the sponsorships your club solicits help your club reach its goal.  Every club that raises at least $2,500 will receive a Paul Harris Fellow to distribute in your club or community.  Since clubs are receiving a PHF, clubs that have raised $2,500 do not receive event tickets.  Non-Rotary Club sponsors at the $2,500 sponsor level receive event tickets as part of the sponsorship.  There has been some confusion on this point.

EVENT:
We hope to have 300 attendees, so please use the link below to purchase tickets or sponsorships.  Please share this link with your members as well:

AUCTION:
We are seeking auction items and experiences with at least a $500 value.  Josh Prest, past president of Rotary Club of Youngstown is the auction chair.  If you have an item you can solicit, please contact Josh at jprest91@gmail.com or 330-509-3381.

MENU:
Many of you have asked about the menu.  There will be nothing exotic and something for everyone's palate.  This is a slavic oriented menu to include:

·        COCKTAIL HOUR - Slavic charcuterie to include fermented veggies, onions, pickles, sausage, rye bread
·        TABLE APP to include -the edible candle  https://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/1094311/beef-tallow-candle/
·        FIRST - small cups of borscht with silver dollar crispy potato pancakes topped w a dollop of sour cream
·        SECOND - multicolor pierogi - folks in NE Ohio never see these but it is very common in Eastern Europe to see red, black and as well as standard white but with fruit
·        THIRD - A trio plate of perhaps sarma/stuffed cabbage, chicken Kiev and a roasted root veggie
·        DESSERT - Fruit-filled pierogi w cream, slice of strudel and tiny scoop of ice cream
PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR WONDERFUL EFFORTS TO SUPPORT THE HUMANITARIAN NEED IN UKRAINE!
