Sugarcreek Rotary Club
Club Meeting Update for Week of January 3rd, 2022

Club News

Happy New Year!!!

Greetings Club Members,

Our club meetings are back to normal beginning this Tuesday, January 3rd at 6pm.  This will be a working meeting with club members in attendance offering input and assistance to prepare for our annual Sugarcreek Rotary Pancake Fundraiser.

We will spend the hour discussing the following:

1.  Vendor - Grilling Sausage
Byler's is charging $1.50 per lb to grill the sausage.  We would have to drive to Millersburg in several trips to pick up the sausage in coolers.  If we have 700 lbs. = $1200.00 plus the expenses of picking up the sausage.  This will be too much for us to take on this year and would like to see if we can find another option.

Option 1 - Can we have access to the Sugarcreek Fire Department's BBQ area that day and have 2-3 Rotarians who want to grill the sausage for us?  John Meek, can we see if we can have access to this?  The expenses incurred would be cost of the charcoal.  We would need assistance in getting the sausage up to the community center.

Option 2 - Can we look at building a BBQ area at the Belden Community Center area?  Has this been discussed before?  Is this even an option for us?  Lets discuss with Jim Millet and see what we could do.

Option 3 - Anyone have any other ideas?

2.  Sponsorship of Fundraiser - Meals on Wheels
I have been speaking with Kim Harmon who is in charge of Meals on Wheels.  Will be meeting with her tomorrow to brainstorm more on how we could get our business leaders to sponsor meals for her organization or other non-profits in the area that could benefit from those in need of the pancake meal.  More information at the Tuesday, January 3rd meeting.

If anyone else has any input, please bring your ideas!

3.  Added Beth Johnson to our email listing.  Beth is the Satellite Manager for the Garaway Senior center.  She has reached out to me to get added to our club information emails and newsletters.  Beth can be reached at:  garawayseniorcenter@gmail.com

New Club Member Pinning
I will be announcing a date in January or February for new member pinning with our DG Steve Wilder.

Boy Scouts of Sugarcreek - guest speakers
I have reached out to Mike Hershberger to set up an event to have the Boy Scouts and their parents attend dinner meeting and be our guest speaker in January or February.  Waiting to hear back on the date.

Rotary Foundation
Linda Fergason mailed out letters to each Rotarian regarding their annual Paul Harris Fellow Challenge.  She has return envelope for you to just fill out your pledge and turn into her through U.S. Mail.  LInda will need your pledge by January 1, 2022.

Has anyone sent in their club monies?  I mailed mine last week.

******RYLA FOR 2022 HAS BEEN CANCELLED BY OUR DISTRICT OFFICE***

Hans Place - Sugarcreek
Debbie Mullen brought up the idea of us meeting at Hans Place.  They have a room and Rotarians can order of menu.  I will reach out to Hans Place and find out more information.

Lunch Meetings
Tom Brown has presented to the club that he has met with Milo Miller about having luncheon meetings separate from our dinner meetings.  The group decided to see what all club members felt about this and if the District Governor would need to be involved on any additional club meetings.  I will check into this as well with our DG.
